Sensors and Zigbee adapter
The Zigbee adapter
Section titled “The Zigbee adapter”Plug in a USB Zigbee adapter whenever you like. Élise recognises it through its stable /dev/serial/by-id/… path, then picks the matching Zigbee2MQTT driver:

An unknown adapter is probed by Zigbee2MQTT itself. Unplugging the adapter stops Zigbee2MQTT cleanly. Its status is in /var/lib/elise/zigbee/status.json.
With several serial ports, automatic selection is impossible: set ZIGBEE_ADAPTER_MODE=manual, ZIGBEE_ADAPTER and ZIGBEE_ADAPTER_TYPE in the configuration.
Add a sensor
Section titled “Add a sensor”- In My home, choose the room.
- Choose what you want to detect.
- Élise suggests documented devices and opens a short Zigbee pairing session.
Matter, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth or Z-Wave devices are added through their Home Assistant integration and appear at the next inventory refresh.
Capabilities
Section titled “Capabilities”Élise does not depend on each manufacturer’s payload format. The Élise bridge maps each Home Assistant entity to a capability: motion, occupancy, contact, button, temperature, humidity, water_leak, smoke, fall_detection, power, energy…
Known classes work without configuration. An unknown entity stays visible to administrators but joins no routine or alert until it is given one of the ON_OFF, OPEN_CLOSED, NUMERIC or EVENT_ACTION mappings. Arbitrary transforms are never accepted.

Section titled “Documented devices”These devices have a checked manufacturer sheet and Zigbee2MQTT integration. None is validated in real conditions yet.
