Mobile app
The Élise Companion app brings the caregiver space to the phone and receives alert notifications.
The app page shows its screens in pictures.
Install
Section titled “Install”The app exists for iPhone and iPad and for Android:
- iPhone and iPad: on the App Store.
- Android: the signed APK of the latest release is on the Download page.
On iPhone, the app asks for local network access on first launch: accept it, this is how it finds the box on the Wi-Fi.
Connect the app to the hub
Section titled “Connect the app to the hub”The app looks for the hub in this order:
- the
_michel._tcpnetwork announcement (mDNS) sent by the hub; - the
elise.localandmichel.localaddresses; - every address on the current Wi-Fi network, on ports 80, 8080 and 8090;
- an address entered by hand, with Enter an address.
On a new installation, the app also follows the hub’s preparation and creates the whole environment from the phone: see Set up from your phone.
Before connecting, it checks that the server it found really is an Élise installation (/api/v1/discovery).
For access away from home, scan the QR code shown in Settings: it opens a michel://connect?url=… link and the app remembers both the local and remote addresses of the same installation. The phone must be connected to Tailscale.
Notifications
Section titled “Notifications”Notifications go through the Expo Push service. They carry only a generic text, the alert’s type and identifier, and its priority. The details stay in the home and are only visible after signing in.
If you enable notifications, the installation stores the notification token, the platform and, when available, the device name.
