Cameras

Cameras are optional. They are used for live checks, after explicit consent. Their picture and sound never enter observations, routine analysis, notifications, logs or normal backups.

Start from My home → the room → Sensor types → Camera.

  1. Élise scans the private network and confirms each RTSP service. It ignores unrelated ports.
  2. If a single camera is found, it is selected automatically. The suggested username is admin; the local password is only requested if the stream needs it.
  3. Élise queries ONVIF for video profiles, or tries common RTSP paths. The camera is only saved once a frame is received.

The RTSP address and credentials are encrypted before they are stored. Use the camera’s local account, not the manufacturer’s cloud account. ONVIF or RTSP must be enabled on the camera.

The default discovery range is 192.168.1.0/24. For another network, set MICHEL_CAMERA_DISCOVERY_CIDRS (comma-separated private IPv4 ranges, from /24 to /32).

  • Bedrooms and bathrooms require an explicit, recorded consent confirmation.
  • Owners, administrators and caregivers can view configured cameras; only owners and administrators can add them.
  • A caregiver can enable privacy mode; only an administrator can re-enable a camera.
  • Every view, alert image or privacy change is audited.
  • Live video is relayed on demand with a signed five-minute session.
  • Privacy mode immediately cuts the stream and blocks new sessions and images.
  • Alert images are limited to the room concerned and deleted after 24 hours.
  • A camera outage only degrades video. A missing or negative detection never proves that the resident is absent.

The browser microphone requires a secure origin: use the Tailscale HTTPS address. If video does not show remotely, set MICHEL_WEBRTC_CANDIDATE to the machine’s Tailscale MagicDNS name, then recreate the services:

Fenêtre de terminal
docker compose up -d --force-recreate bootstrap go2rtc api worker dashboard

Intercom, PTZ, hardware privacy mode and person detection are only enabled once the camera model is validated. Continuous recording is disabled.
